National Nutrition Month is celebrated every year from 1st to 30th September. This year the Department of Food and Nutrition, Era University celebrated National Nutrition Month 2023 with the series of events, seminars and competitions. The theme for this year was Suposhit bharat, Saakshar bhaarat, Saposhit bhaarat where everyone was encouraged to learn and practice about healthy food choices and developing balanced eating habits and physically active life style.
Prof. (Dr) Sabra Habib, Emeritus Professor, from Lucknow was the chief guest of the valedictory session. Prof (Dr). Farzana Mahdi, Pro- Vice Chancellor, Era University welcomed Prof. (Dr) Sabra Habib with a flower bouquet. Prof (Dr). Farzana Mahdi, Pro- Vice Chancellor, Era University, Prof. (Dr) Sabra Habib, Emeritus Professor, Head of Department, Food and Nutrition Dr. Kahkashan Parvin and Dr. Minhaj Akhtar Usmani, Associate Professor, Department, Food and Nutrition were present on the dais. Senior faculty members, Dr. Meeta Ghosh, Head, Department of Happiness, Assistant Registrar Dr. Ghazala Zaidi and faculty members from different departments were present for the session.
Dr. Kahkashan Parvin, Head, Department of Food and Nutrition, gave a brief outline of National Nutrition Month 2023, and emphasized on the importance of celebrating National Nutrition Month, Dr. Shikha Singh, Assistant Professor briefed about the events of the National Nutrition Month. Prof. (Dr.) Farzana Mahdi, Honourable Pro- Vice Chancellor, Era University addressed the audience and encouraged everyone to have a fresh and pure form of food products in their daily diet. Also to carefully limit the intake of nutrients, supplements, antioxidants to eliminate chances of toxicity and overdose. Prof. (Dr.) Farzana Mahdi, also emphasise more on conducting outreach programmes in rural community for enhancing the overall nutritional wellbeing of people and spread of awareness in community people. She also congratulated the Department for successfully organising such events and activities in the university.
Chief guest Prof (Dr.) Sabra Habib, Emeritus Professor, Lucknow encouraged the students to include fresh vegetables and fruits in daily diet, for healthy mind and healthy well being one should take adequate amounts of nutrients in their diet. She also focus on the selection of food choices and change in life style patterns. Prof. (Dr). Farzana Mahdi and Prof. (Dr). Sabra Habib Provides Certificates to the students who were the winners in various competitions held during the National Nutrition Month 2023 activities.
