The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, also known as World Drug Day, is conducted by the United Nations. It is observed on June 26 annually.
On this occasion an awareness program about drug abuse was organized at Mini Auditorium, Ground Floor, University Building on June 29, 2022. Professor Dr. Adarsh Kumar from Department of Forensic Medicine AIIMS New Delhi who is also the Honorary president of International Association of Medico-legal Experts (IAMLE) and Founder and Director of HUMANE Foundation Ms. Ashama Khan from Lucknow were the guest speakers for the event. Dr. Adarsh Kumar advised students about the ill effects of substance abuse, as well as the emphasized the role of will power to get rid of addiction. Ms. Ashama Khan shared her work experience with students under the banner of HUMANE foundation and advised students to stay away from the people who encourage any kind of drug addiction. The program was attended by Assistant Registrar, Era University Dr. Ghazala Zaidi, heads and faculty members of various departments and students. Almost 150 students attended the awareness program and their questions were also answered by the speakers. At the end of the program vote of thanks was given by Dr. Ghazala Zaidi. She also congratulated coordinators of event Ms. Swati Joshi and Ms. Hershika Verma for successful completion of event.
