PROGRAM OVERVIEW

M.A/ M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology is a Post Graduate degree Program. It is an integration of science, theory, and clinical knowledge for the purpose of understanding, preventing, and relieving psychologically based distress or dysfunction and to promote subjective well-being and personal development. In the year 2020, our Honorable Pro. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Farzana Mahdi, has completed a dream of our Honorable Vice- Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Abbas Mehdi and added one more star to Era University by introducing “Department of Clinical psychology” for Clinical Studies.

EU offers a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology & Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology which are among the most needed and fruitful programs for the students. Master of Clinical Psychology is a two-year academic program to demonstrate understanding of, and competency in core clinical along with research skills essential for effective professional practice.

ELIGIBILITY

1. For Master Programme Graduation Degree in any discipline.
2. For Ph.D. Programme Post Graduation in Psychology.

COURSE DURATION

1. M.A/ M.Sc. (Clinical Psychology) is a full-time two-year course with four semester system offered to students.
2. Ph.D. is a full time three and a half years course.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE

The objectives of M.A/M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology program are:-

  • To demonstrate knowledge of the scientific body of information pertaining to personality and individual differences, biological, developmental, social, bases of behavior, and psychology.
  • To demonstrate understanding of, and competency in core clinical skills essential for effective professional practice.
  • To enhance the ability of students to conduct clinical research in hospital setting and utilize empirical data for clinical practice.
  • Department also aims Choice Based Credit system to equip students with day-to-day preventive measures of mental health.
  • Motivate students to take up current problems related to mental health of children, youth, and geriatric population through the dissertations & Ph.D. Theses. This also provides data base to design and start the supporting Programmes to their population and contribute to the society in a more Whole some way.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES & CAREER PATH WAYS
  • Students holding M.A/M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology degree can work in consultation with top corporate executives and they can also work as a medical counsellor in hospitals. Social Service and Mental Health Career are two most popular career options for post- graduate students.
  • Students who complete their Masters in Clinical Psychology can join hands with ongoing research projects in various organizations, like medical Colleges, Institutes of technology, different social organization & voluntary organizations working in the field.
  • The subject offers a wide range of career opportunities. After pursuing Master’s program, one can opt for jobs as a Psychologist, Urban Planning Officer. Social service and Mental Health are also the fields which offer lucrative carrier opportunities.

FACULTY DETAILS
Dr. Krishna Dutt, Prof &; Head. Formerly faculty K.G Medical University Lucknow, Founder of Asmita (A center of show learners and Mental Health care), Member: Editorial Board, Indian Journal of Clinical Psychology, Recipient of National Builder Award, fifty icons of India award, Bade Dilwala award, Rajiv Gandhi award and Vyakti Vishesh award by Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. He has Published more than 30 (Thirty) Research articles and there are 3 (Three) Books to his credit.
Mr. Ishu Parihar, Assistant Professor has completed his Masters in Psychology form Kanpur University. He has also qualified NET exam. He has been associated with the Department of Clinical Psychology at Era University since its inception in 2020. He is also pursuing Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology form Era University. Presented research paper at National Conference on Mental Health (14/12/2023), Christ University NCR; 50th NACIACP (08/02/2024), Aurobindo University, Indo.
Dr Alpana Rastogi is Assistant professor in Department of clinical psychology in ERA University, Lucknow. She Joined the department in February2023. She completed her post-graduation form University of Lucknow. She qualified NET in year 2000 and awarded Ph.D. in year 2005 for her thesis "Triguna and Psychological Well-Being" She served as lecturer and assistant professor in Mahila Post Graduate college and National P.G. College respectively, she also served as clinical psychologist in National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development and worked as psychological counselor in a voluntary organization Asmita: A Center of Slow Learner and Mental Health Care. She claims five research papers in reputed journals and Ovo chapters in books written on mental health. She Is Awarded As "Abimana" In the Year 2019 By an organization "Asha: The Hope, "Bivekachuramani'2 The Year 2021 By Art Therapy Council of India and Again ''Shreshtha" By Asha: The Hope In,2023.
Mr. Varun Yadav: Joined Department of Clinical Psychology, Era University (September 2023) as an Assistant Professor. He is pursuing Ph.D. in Psychology from University of Lucknow under the supervision of Professor Sapna Verma. He has qualified UGC- NET. (Year 2022, 2023) and GATE 2023. Published 4 research articles and presented research papers in national conferences. Few titles worth mentioning are- “Spirituality and Mental Health: Towards a Conceptual Framework” (2024); “Disgust sensitivity Political Conservatism: A Cross- Sectional study” (2024).


Ex Faculty
Mrs. Divisha Rastogi, Lecturer is a Department of Clinical Psychology at Era University since August 2022. She has completed her M -Phil in Clinical Psychology form King Georges Medical University. She has completed her Masters form Tata Institute of Social Sciences with specialization in Clinical Psychology. She is also pursuing Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology form Era University. She has completed her internships in various mental health setups like Nur Manzil, Prabal De— Addiction Center, Asmita- A center for slow learners in Lucknow and Fortis Hospital Noida. She has presented a symposium at the 46th NACIACP 2020, Chandigarh, she has also Presented an E-poster at the 71st Annual National Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society at Lucknow (ANCIPS 2019) and presented a paper at a scientific session at 3 rd. International Conference of Indian Academy of Health Psychology at Lucknow (ICIAHP-2017) in Lucknow. She has also published a chapter in the book Mental Retardation: Rehabilitation and Intervention by Dr-Archana Shukla. Currently Joined I am Lucknow as a counselor.
