Programme Overview

The Aim of Master of Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology (M.MRIT) is to provide specialized training in the scientific principles of modern imaging science and in the application of these principles in the field of Radio Diagnosis. The course is designed for the students who have already gone through the basic and practical aspects of the subject during their bachelor degree course and are interested to enhance their knowledge of the subject academically and clinically.
After successful completion of the master degree the students would have developed a broad knowledge of the principles, technology, instrumentation, recent developments and proper handling of the modern radiological equipment and proper execution of the various radiological procedures.
It shall be a regular course of four semesters where attendance in the theory , practicals and clinical postings is mandatory. The students short of attendance are not allowed to appear in the University examinations. The degree shall be awarded when the students have cleared all the papers of all the four semesters without any back paper.

OBJECTIVES

To create post graduate RIT teachers with strong academic and research background who will help in developing the field of Radiology and Imaging Technology. They will be responsible and helpful in:

  • Verifying informed consent, assuming responsibility for patient needs during procedures.
  • Applying principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self and others.
  • Evaluating images for technical quality, ensuring proper identification is recorded.
  • Promotes effective working relationships and works effectively as part of a department/ unit/ team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department/ unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Follows established safety practices including biohazards, exposure control plan.
  • and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
  • Performing ongoing quality assurance activities.
  • Build Up leadership qualities in education, practice and administration.
  • Research and development of new techniques and procedures as assigned.
  • Contribute to emerging and vitally important industry through research.
  • Providing education, and monitoring students and other health care providers.
  • Should have management and research skills.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Many opportunities are available in academic, research institutions. Also as a radiologic technologist in diagnostic imaging centres, super specialty hospitals, in the government and corporate setup. Self-employment opportunities are always available to radiology technologist., The field is open for invasive procedures in Bone Densitometry, Basic X-Ray, Computed Tomography,(CT Scan) Mammography, MRI, Fluoroscopy, Angiography, Interventional Radiology, Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology, etc.

ELIGIBILITY
    Selection procedure:
  • Bachelor in Medical Radiology & Imaging Technology (3+1)/B.Sc. Medical Technology Radio diagnosis and Imaging/ B.Sc. Radiological Technology/B.Sc. in Radiography/B.Sc. Medical Technology (X-ray) or equivalent to BMRIT with a minimum 60% marks in Bachelor. Bachelor course must be three years course and one year of internship/one year of working experience must be considered for the Master degree admission.
  • Elective specializations:
  • The selection of the candidates for admission to the course is made on merit on the basis of combined entrance examination conducted by NCAHP/NEET. The admission notice is released in all leading English Newspaper. Only those candidates will be eligible who score minimum 60% marks in the entrance test for General Category candidates and 55% of for those belonging to SC/ST category. Selection of the candidate on the basis of Entrance examination conducted by the national commission (NCAHP) norms.
NO OF SEATS

A total of 15 candidates will be offered in each academic year based on their performance in the entrance test and interview.

DURATION

2 Years (Four semesters)

Medium of instruction: English shall be the medium of instruction for all the subjects of study and for examination of the course.
